چکیده

The morphological evolution of nanoscale precipitates in Al–Cu alloys is studied by integrating first-principles calculations, the mixed-space cluster expansion, and Monte Carlo simulations. Without a priori assumptions, we predict generic precipitate morphologies dominated by strain-induced long-range interactions: single atomic layers consisting of 100%Cu atoms along {100} planes of a face-centered-cubic lattice of Al atoms, consistent with experimental measurements. We analyze the precipitation kinetics using the Johnson–Mehl–Avrami phase transformation theory and obtain a transformation exponent close to 1.5. 2005 Published by Elsevier Ltd on behalf of Acta Materialia Inc.

Effect of Nanoscale Titanium Dioxide Particles on the Germination and Growth of Canola (Brassica napus)

An investigation was initiated to examine the effects of nanoscale titanium dioxide particles on plant growth and development. In view of the widespread cultivation of canola in Iran and in other parts of the globe and in view of the potential influence of titanium on its growth, this plant was chosen as the model system. Canola seeds were separately treated with different concentrations of nan...

Growth, Characterization of Cu Nanoparticles Thin Film by Nd: YAG Laser Pulses Deposition

We report the growth and characterization of Cu nanoparticles thin film of on glass substrate by pulse laser deposition method. The Cu thin film prepared with different energy 50, 60, 70, and 80 mJ. The energy effect on the morphological, structural and optical properties were studied by AFM, XRD and UV-Visible spectrophotometer. Surface topography studied by atomic force microscopy revealed na...

Architectural Growth of Cu Nanoparticles Through Electrodeposition

Cu particles with different architectures such as pyramid, cube, and multipod have been successfully fabricated on the surface of Au films, which is the polycrystalline Au substrate with (111) domains, using the electrodeposition technique in the presence of the surface-capping reagents of dodecylbenzene sulfonic acid and poly(vinylpyrrolidone). Further, the growth evolution of pyramidal Cu nan...

Self-propagating high-temperature synthesis of nano-TiCx particles with different shapes by using carbon nano-tube as C source

With using the carbon nano-tube (CNT) of high chemical activity, nano-TiCx particles with different growth shapes were synthesized through the self-propagating high temperature in the 80 wt.% metal (Cu, Al, and Fe)-Ti-CNT systems. The growth shapes of the TiCx particles are mainly octahedron in the Cu- and Al-Ti-CNT systems, while mainly cube- and sphere-like in the Fe-Ti-CNT system.

A new approach for fabrication of bulk MMCs using Accumulative Channel-die Compression Bonding (ACCB)

A new severe plastic deformation (SPD) based technique entitled Accumulative channel-die compression bonding (ACCB) is proposed for the fabrication of high strength multi-layered Al/Cu composites for the first time. In order to primarily demonstrate the capabilities of ACCB in the fabrication of metal matrix composites (MMCs), AA 1050 and pure Cu strips were processed. The primary Al/Cu sandwic...
